Travel from Tbilisi along the Georgian Military Highway to Zhinvali Reservoir, Ananuri Fortress, Pasanauri, Gudauri, and Stepantsminda. An English-speaking guide such as Shoti, Tako, Nika, or Mariam leads the day, with a 4WD ride to Gergeti Trinity Church. Expect a long, scenic day shaped by weather and road conditions.
“Perfect trip! What made it truly special was our guide, Anna. She was incredibly nice, funny, and made the entire journey seamless. She shared fascinating insights into Georgia’s history, local legends, and mountain villages. Our route to Kazbegi was stunning, starting with the breathtaking Zhinvali Reservoir, followed by Ananuri and Gudauri. Although heavy snow and road closures meant we couldn't reach Stepantsminda, we easily rerouted to the Gudauri Ski Resort before heading back. We also made a few stops at a restaurant called Pasanauri—the food and the views were both delicious! Between the honey tasting and the cozy coffee shops, it was a fantastic experience.
